Hide or push down sold-out products in Shopify

Siftori keeps sold-out products out of the way. Push them to the bottom of the collections you pick, hide them from your Online Store, or do both. Restocked products move back up on their own, and hidden ones return to your storefront when you turn that on.

Two ways to handle sold-out products

Push them to the bottom

Sold-out products drop below everything that is still for sale. The whole collection stays browsable and every product link keeps working. Pick this when a sold-out product should still be findable.

Hide them from your Online Store

Sold-out products come off your Online Store, so they leave the collection and the storefront. Anyone landing on the old link is redirected: to the collection the product was in, to all collections, to your home page, to a URL you choose, or nowhere. Pick this when a sold-out product should be gone until it is back. Hiding is store-wide: it covers every sold-out product you sell, whatever collections you picked for the push down.

Both live on the Sold-out handling page and you can use them together. Neither one needs a sorting strategy, so they reach a collection that has none.

Set it up

1. Open Sold-out handling from the app’s navigation.
2. Tick Push down sold-out products, then choose All collections, or Selected collections and pick the ones you want. Under Selected collections, Include new collections takes in the ones you create later.
3. Under Exclusions, name any tags or products that should stay where they are when they sell out.
4. Press Save. Sold-out products start moving down within minutes.

Turn on hiding

Hiding is part of the same form and covers your whole store, whatever you picked above.

1. Tick Hide sold-out products and choose where their links should redirect.
2. Tick Bring hidden products back when they restock, so a product returns to your Online Store on its own.
3. Press Save. Siftori says how many products it is about to hide before you press it.

What happens when a product comes back in stock

Siftori puts it back within minutes, without you doing anything. A pushed-down product returns to the position it held before it sold out, where your own order is what shows. Where a sorting strategy decides the order, the product takes the place the strategy gives it at the next sort. A hidden product goes back on your Online Store with its collection position intact, as long as Bring hidden products back when they restock is on.

Questions merchants ask

How fast does it run?

Within minutes of the stock change in Shopify. It does not wait for your store's sort schedule.

What counts as sold out?

A product counts as sold out when none of its variants can be bought and its total stock is zero or below. A product set to continue selling when out of stock is still buyable, so Siftori leaves it where your sorting puts it.

Can I keep some products out of it?

Yes. Under Exclusions, name the product tags or the individual products that should be left alone. They keep their place when they sell out and they are never hidden.

Does it work on the free plan?

Yes. Sold-out handling runs on every plan, and the push down ignores your plan's collection limit.

Can I turn it off again?

Untick Push down sold-out products and save to stop it. That clears the positions Siftori remembered, so products that restock later do not return to their old slots. Unticking Hide sold-out products asks, when you save, whether to bring the hidden products back or leave them hidden, and leaving them hidden stops Siftori tracking them, so putting those products back is yours to do.
